Elmer Lin

B.Arch, MS. registered architect, ncarb, csi, AIA

Raised in California, Elmer's earliest exposure to architecture was of the local agrarian structures and the wide open skies of the Central Valley.  Later influences include Mies van der Rohe and Renzo Piano through childhood visits to the Seagrams Building and the Menil Collection.  By the beginning of high school, he knew architecture was his passion and craft.

After working high school summers in Fresno, California, and college summers in Los Angeles and Oakland, Elmer Lin received his professional degree in architecture with a minor in art history from the University of Oregon in 1991 followed by a masters degree from Columbia University in New York and the William Kinne Fellowship in 1995. He is NCARB certified, a member of the American Institute of Architects, Construction Specification Institute, and licensed to practice architecture in the states of California, Hawaii, and Oregon.

Prior to founding Consortium, Elmer began his career as an environmental designer at the venerable Landor Associates, and then held staff architect positions with Hood Miller Architects, Gabellini Associates, Chan Sau Yan, Freebairn-Smith & Crane, Jensen & Macy, and most recently, Kuth Ranieri Architects.  Elmer has also collaborated with Randolph Designs, Mr Important Design, and Glessner Design on recent projects.

As the Principal, Elmer is involved in all aspects of design and project management beginning with the first conversation down to the last punch list.  Elmer, whose projects and relationships have been about continuity and endurance, embraces collaboration and partnership in the design and construction process to produce unique resolutions in the art and science of architecture.
