Devonshire

Eichler homes were airy and modern in comparison to most of the mass-produced, middle-class, postwar homes built in the 1950s. At first, potential home buyers, many of whom were war-weary ex-servicemen and women seeking convention rather than innovation, were resistant to the innovative homes.  After years of piece meal renovations, the house was resurrected by restoring the open atrium to the sky and modernizing the interiors without abandoning its roots.  A new light-filled master bathroom was created along with an enlarged kitchen.  Every effort was made to return the classic structure to it ideal origin including reuse of mahogany plywood and polished concrete floors.
