New Wheel Oakland

OAKLAND

Located in Oakland's historic Oakmore neighborhood, The New Wheel sits near the Leimert Bridge, once a vital connection for middle-class commuters in the 1920s. Back then, residents took Key Route streetcars to the Bay Bridge and transferred to buses en route to San Francisco. Though the streetcar power lines have since been converted to street lighting, the storefront still reflects the charm of its era with green-painted tiles and an original facade. Inside, an expanded space now spans two storefronts, housing a modern showroom, parts, and repair services. Updated lighting and finishes blend history with function, serving today’s commuters and adventurers along the landmarked Leimert Bridge and Dimond Canyon trails.
