San francisco
A jewel box of Beaux-Arts San Francisco, built shortly after 1906 and associated with Belgian architect Charles Rousseau, suffered from decades of neglect and abandonment. Through new concrete & steel foundations, waterproofing, and structural rehabilitation, it stands for another hundred years. Terra-cotta detailing was faithfully replicated but the fenestration and interior was vastly improved from the original with a new full height basement, heavy timber trusses, oversized windows, and a parquet floor of walnut.
